About Wyyrd

Pronounced like 'weird' or 'wiird', my name is my public magickal name; I have many private names but you can call me Wyyrd.

I was an armchair occultist for many years, and my general love of books made me read a great deal, including occult classics of various quality.

I fancied myself as a Ceremonial Magickian, and I read the work of Aleister Crowley and learned of Thelema.

As impressed as I was with the Goetia, I could not accept the christian based architecture employed; I understood the Deamons and Angels were merely personifications of powers -the map is not the territory - but I wasn't comfortable.

I was mesmerised by the laws of correspondence, and filled my mind with all sorts of Gematric, quality and temporal links, as part of my sympathetic magickal understanding.

There came a time when Victorian magick, with it's religious overtones, became less satisfying and I began to wonder what modern occultists were up to.

I learned more about energy workings, and as I understood that the point of ceremony was to develop the Magickal Personality and unleash energy, I took up a less structured approach to raising and directing energy. I have an affinity with elements, and studied the not only Elemental Magick (and Elemental spirits / consciousnesses) but also the science of matter, and physics explained that there are five states of matter (not the three of solid, liquid and gas as I was taught at school) and I began to grasp E=MC2 in it's most abstract manner.

To complement my QBL learnings, I read some Eastern mysticism and philosophy, and I continue to work on my chakras.

My research quickly brought me to Chaos Magick and I learned that it's possible to be free of dogma and still have a structured approach to magickal workings.
